My primary goal in studying ancient and modern humans (and other creatures) is to apply what I learn to help build a better future for us all. Toward that end, I’m a founding member of Indivisible of West Central Illinois, which has spearheaded numerous projects including Community Chest Network, the School Shooting Victims’ Memorial Project, and provides people and resources to support Macomb Pride.

I’m also currently running for a District 1 seat on the McDonough County Board. If you live in McDonough County District 1 (see map, below), look for my name (AJ Alveshere) on the November, 2026 ballot.
